Introduction
Concor Construction invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of a Site Agent for our projects within Southern Africa.
The successful incumbent will be responsible for the effective overall management of the site. This includes the optimisation of financial performance of the site and implementation of site-specific systems and controls, i.e. daily costing, programme management, QA/QC, HSE, procurement controls, budgets and forecasts, cost reporting, Client and Stakeholder liaison etc.
Preference will be given to Employment Equity candidates.
Job description
Successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to):
- Ensure effective optimisation of financial performance of site
- Implementation of site specific systems e.g. trend analysis, forecasts, procurement controls
- Managing quality of site deliverables
- Managing site teams and identification and allocation of resources in line with project requirements, e.g. staff, plant, sub- contractors
- Managing performance of staff under control
- Health and Safety initiatives
- Building and maintaining Relationship with client
- Fostering relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Ensuring that quality of work and materials comply to specifications
- Work to be completed within required time frames
- Inspiring team members to achieve high levels of production
- Building good relations with employees and relevant role players
- Manage site teams and identification and allocation of resources in line with project requirements, e.g. staff, plant, sub- contractors.
- Providing constructive support to company initiatives
- Reviewing work and ensure corrective action when required
- Implementing improvements and demonstrating initiative
- Consistently complying with all company policies and procedures
- Ensuring compliance to Safety, Health & Environmental Regulations
- Ensuring best practices in construction methods
Minimum requirements
Qualifications
- A degree/diploma in Construction Management/Building Science
- Must be registered as a candidate with SACPCMP or ECSA
Experience
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Site agent within the building industry especially with the building of malls and shopping centres.
- Must have a valid driver’s licence
- Must be a South African Citizen
Knowledge and Skills
- Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Word & Outlook)
- Ability to think methodically and to manage large sections of a project
- Ability to read, understand and organize construction Plans and Specifications
- Must have a working knowledge of CCS estimating and planning modules
- Working knowledge of the OHS Act, and Construction Regulations
- Good working knowledge of various conditions of contract specifications (e.g. FIDIC, GCC, NEC);
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills;
- Ability to work as part of the team, while exercising own judgment
- Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet established deadlines
