Introduction
Concor Construction invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of a Civils Estimator. The successful incumbent will report directly to the Estimating Director. The successful incumbent will be responsible for the preparation and finalization of cost estimates and tenders in response to inquiries, with the aim of submitting the most competitive tender proposals. Preference will be given to Employment Equity candidates. This position will be based at Head Office, Bedfordview.
Job description

Successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to):
  • Prepare detailed accurate material, labour, equipment, subcontracts, construction facilities, etc. estimates while also reviewing implications and risks related to tenders
  • Ensure standard procedures are adhered to and any specific client requirements have been taken into account
  • Attend on-site pre-bid/proposal conferences and monthly site visits
  • Develop and review subcontractor scopes of work and accepting, reviewing, and analyzing subcontractor quotes for best value
  • Prepare project schedules and performing quantity take-offs
  • Capture quantities into estimating software
  • Presenting cost estimates to meet Employers requirements, providing consideration for general and special conditions
  • Building and maintaining relationship with client
  • Fostering and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Ensuring all tender qualifications are identified and included in tender
  • Providing constructive support to company initiatives
  • Consistently complying with all company policies and procedures


Minimum requirements

Qualifications

  • A degree/diploma in Civil Engineering
 
Experience

  • A minimum of 6 years’ experience as a Civils Estimator or similar estimating role within the construction industry
  • Minimum of 10 years' “on site” working experience on Civil Engineering Construction Projects
  • Must have a valid driver’s licence
  • Must be a South African Citizen

 Knowledge and Skills

  • Advanced Proficiency of CCS estimating and planning modules
  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Word & Outlook)
  • Ability to read, understand and organize construction Plans and Specifications
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while exercising great judgment
  • Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet established deadlines
