Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to):
Ensuring standard procedures are adhered to and any specific client requirements are taken into account
· Sets and maintains production targets and operates within prescribed cost budgets.
· Preparing detailed long-term project schedules.
· Fostering relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
· Manage material procurement and controls (e.g, trend analysis, forecasts, procurement controls, etc.)
· Successfully managing multiple contracts
· Ensuring that the quality of work and materials complies with specifications
· Work to be completed within required time frames
· Inspiring team members to achieve high levels of production
· Building good relations with employees and relevant role players
· Manage site teams and identification and allocation of resources in line with project requirements, e.g., staff, plant, subcontractors.
· Professional conduct at all times
· Providing constructive support to company initiatives
· Reviewing work and ensuring corrective action when required
· Implementing improvements and demonstrating initiative
· Consistently complying with all company policies and procedures
· Ensuring compliance with Safety, Health & Environmental Regulations
· Ensuring best practices in construction methods
Minimum requirements
Qualifications
· A degree/diploma in Civil Engineering
· Must be registered as a candidate with SACPCMP or ECSA
Experience
- A minimum of 6-8 years' experience as a site engineer within the construction industry
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must be a South African Citizen
Knowledge and Skills
- Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word & Outlook)
- Ability to think methodically and to manage large sections of a project
- Ability to read, understand, and organise construction Plans and Specifications
- Must have a working knowledge of CCS estimating and planning modules
- Working knowledge of the OHS Act and Construction Regulations
- Good working knowledge of various conditions of contract specifications (e.g, FIDIC, GCC, NEC );
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong organisational, analytical, and problem solving skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
