Introduction
Concor Construction seeks an experienced HSE Manager to apply for a Limited Duration Contract position.
The successful incumbent will implement the HSE Management System, policies, and procedures, and drive compliance with Health and Safety Legislation and Concor Standards.
The position is site-based, and applicants will be required to travel and/or relocate. Preference will be given to Employment Equity candidates.
Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to):
- Facilitate the risk management process and implementation of risk management strategies after serious incidents/accidents, and the updating of new processes.
- Facilitate incident investigations and verification of corrective and preventative action plans.
- Ensure investigations are conducted and reported in line with legal and statutory requirements of the applicable legislation.
- Compile close-out reports and submit them upon completion of serious investigations.
- Prepare a business report on specific findings, planned activities, specific interventions, and client interactions.
- Provide technical guidance and consulting to management on risk management and risk assessments.
- Conduct regular audits on risk assessments to ensure risk mitigation controls have been Implemented in workplaces.
- Communicate findings and recommendations of audit findings and monitor the implementation of corrective and remedial actions.
- Compile regular, accurate, relevant, and timely formal and ad-hoc reports.
- Ensure all actions from management meetings are implemented as agreed.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable company standards and policies as well as ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
- Adhere to policies, processes, standards, procedures, protocols, and documentation at all times.
- Ensure HSE management systems are implemented and maintained.
- Implementation and Monitoring of compliance with the Project Health & Safety plan.
Minimum requirements
Qualifications
- National Diploma/Degree in Safety/Risk Management or related qualification.
- Must be registered as a Construction Health & Safety Manager with SACPCMP for Safety Managers
- SAMTRAC
- HIRA
- Fall Protection Planner
- Incident Investigation
- Working at Heights
- Legal Liability
- An Auditing qualification would be advantageous
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must be a South African Citizen
Experience
- A minimum of 2 years of work experience in the construction of civil structures in South Africa or abroad, and a minimum of 5 years of construction, bulk earthworks, crushing and screening, and road construction work experience.
- Must have managed an average to large number of subcontractors
- Experience in facilitating Risk Assessments
- Working at Heights experience
- Experience in Onboarding and auditing subcontractor Safety Files.
- Experience in access scaffolding and support work
- Demolition work experience would be advantageous
- Lifting Operations work experience would be advantageous
- Traffic Control Management and experience would be advantageous
Knowledge and Skills
- Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word & Outlook)
- Working knowledge of the OHS Act and Construction Regulations
- Knowledge of relevant legal requirements
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
