Introduction
Concor Construction invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of a Planner. The successful incumbent will be responsible for maintaining, planning, and scheduling systems. Will have to prepare resource plans and programs for projects, while monitoring and reporting progress, and forecasting completion dates required for the project using the prescribed standard, policies, and procedures. The role also requires that project programs be monitored against plans and that man-hour reports are maintained. This position is available for Msikaba Bridge Projects within Concor in the Eastern Cape Province and will be on a Limited Duration Contract ("LDC") basis for the duration of the project.
Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to):

  •         Work closely with the client, designers, and contracts/project managers to develop and maintain detailed resource-loaded schedules of construction projects

    ·        Attend management, project team, and client meetings as requested.

    ·        Perform general planning & scheduling tasks as the Senior Planner/ Contracts Manager may direct.

    ·        Contribution to monthly reporting on the project, both internally and externally 

    ·        Assist management, project managers, and colleagues in understanding and accepting scheduling concepts, theory, and alternative approaches in scheduling project activities.

    ·        Reports deviations and recommends corrective action to management.

    ·        Integrate multiple schedules into a master project schedule, baseline, status, and perform baseline measurements.

    ·        Support the project management team in the planning, tracking, analysis, and reporting of projects, including dashboard maintenance.

    ·        Work in collaboration with the project management team to drive consistency of the project scheduling approach to facilitate accuracy in project execution and reporting.

    ·        Troubleshoot and monitor potential scheduling problems.

    ·        Facilitate and participate in weekly schedule reviews.

    ·        Prepare, preserve, secure, and compile evaluation/ analysis reports, departmental records, statistical information, technical data, and ensure that supporting documents, administration, and correspondence is up to date and accurate.

    ·        Assist with the continuous improvement of project planning procedures within the overall company standards.

 

Minimum requirements

Qualifications

·   A National Diploma or Degree in Building Science or Civil Engineering

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in project planning within the civil and road environment 
  • Site experience, preferably with large projects.  
 

Knowledge and Skills

  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word & Outlook)
  • Advanced knowledge of project management, planning, and construction management tools/systems, i.e., CCS Candy, Primavera, MS Project,
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements;
  • Excellent contractual & commercial awareness;
  • Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills, including the ability to motivate and influence others, build effective interpersonal relationships, and be able to foster and contribute to a positive and productive team environment.
  • Able to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in work style to better respond to multiple requests/tasks and handle sudden changes in priorities, as well as able to embrace and participate in change initiatives.
  • Strong organisational, analytical, and writing skills, to include solid experience in writing functional and technical specifications;
