Introduction
Concor Construction invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of an Engineer MEP Senior to join our project based in the Western Cape. The successful incumbent will overlook the overall responsibility of the performance and quality control of all MEP trades. Preference will be given to Employment Equity candidates. This position is permanent and based in Western Cape.
Job description

Successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to):
  • ·        Take overall responsibility for the performance and quality control of all MEP trades.

    ·        Oversee and direct MEP subcontractors from the time of contract award to the project’s completion.

    ·        Manage and carry out the P. Agnes MEP coordination procedure to address any disputes before the installation process begins. may entail using Navisworks, Revit, and Autocad.

    ·        Check shop designs and submittals for compliance and completeness before installation.

    ·        Take part in the change order and cost review procedures in relation to the MEP trades. Helps the project manager estimate change orders as needed.

    ·        Check that all MEP subcontractor pay requests are accurate and submitted on time.

    ·        Offer the project team schedule recommendations for the MEP trades.

    ·        Work with the site manager and field staff to coordinate onsite MEP activities, material procurement, and other relevant tasks.

    ·        Update others on developments and compile relevant reports upon request.

    ·        Participate in weekly meetings with subcontractors, architects, and owners. If more meetings with the MEP subcontractors are required, chair them.

    ·        Keeps an eye on the MEP system’s installation, start up, and commissioning.

    ·        Oversee the MEP trades’ close-out procedure.

    ·        Keep up positive working connections with architects, engineers, and subcontractors.

Minimum requirements

Qualifications
  • Grade 12 
  • Degree/diploma in Engineering studies
  • Must be registered as a candidate with ECSA (advantageous)
 
Experience
  • 5 or more years of experience in this field
  • Proficient Computer skills
  • Experience with MEP subcontracts and subcontractors
 
Knowledge and Skills 
  •         Strong communication skills
  •        Five or more years of expertise in construction or MEP coordination
  •         A desire to work as a team
  •         Strong grasp of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and low-voltage systems
  •         Ability to recognize and resolve complex issues
  •         General comprehension of building, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing codes as they relate to project construction
  •         Familiarity with MEP subcontracts and subcontractors
  •        Proficient computer skills
