Concor Buildings invites suitably qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the position of Sub Agent for the MU01 Residential Project in the Western Cape.
The successful incumbent will be responsible for assisting in supervising construction operations, coordinating subcontractors, monitoring progress, and ensuring compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and health & safety requirements.
This position is site-based and offered on a LDC basis. Concor is committed to Employment Equity and affirmative action. Suitably qualified candidates from designated groups will be given preference.
Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to):
Site Coordination & Construction Delivery
- Assist in the daily coordination of site operations and resource allocation.
- Monitor work progress against the programme and report deviations promptly.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure workmanship aligns with specifications.
- Support the preparation of daily task plans and short-term look-ahead schedules.
Subcontractor & Workforce Supervision
- Coordinate subcontractor activities and ensure access, readiness, and interface management.
- Verify completed work and support measurement for monthly valuations.
- Monitor labour productivity and assist in managing foremen and task teams.
- Escalate performance or compliance issues to the Site Agent.
Quality Assurance & Control
- Enforce adherence to quality requirements, ITPs, checklists, and specifications.
- Assist in compiling and closing out NCRs and quality documentation.
- Ensure correct materials and construction methods are applied on site.
- Maintain accurate quality records for assigned work areas.
Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Compliance
- Promote Concor’s SHEQ standards and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Participate in toolbox talks, hazard identification, and risk mitigation activities.
- Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and deviations immediately.
- Support safety audits and close-out of HSE action items.
Documentation, Reporting & Planning
- Maintain daily site diaries, photos, and progress records.
- Prepare daily and weekly progress updates for the Site Agent.
- Assist with requisitions for materials, plant, and equipment.
- Support programme updates and planning inputs.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Liaise with subcontractors, consultants, and internal teams to resolve site issues.
- Attend site meetings as required and provide technical input.
- Ensure clear communication between teams to maintain workflow efficiency.
Minimum requirements
Minimum Requirements
- National Diploma or Degree in Construction Management, Building Science, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Valid driver’s license essential.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ relevant building construction experience.
- Prior experience as an Assistant Site Agent / Junior Site Agent / Senior Foreman preferred.
- Exposure to residential, mixed-use, or multi-storey building projects.
- Experience with major contractors (Concor, WBHO, Stefanutti, etc.) advantageous.
Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.
- Strong understanding of building methodologies and sequencing.
- Basic proficiency in MS Projects and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of quality and safety systems (ITPs, NCRs, method statements).
- Understanding of CCS Candy advantageous.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good planning, organising, and follow-through ability.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to quality.
