Introduction
Concor invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Plant Buyer that will report in to the Group Procurement Executive.
The successful candidate will predominantly support the Plant department and projects with sourcing, negotiating and placing orders for repairs, parts and all other maintenance requirements for plant and equipment that is owned by the Group. The candidate will collaborate with the Procurement, Finance and Plant/Project teams to ensure timeous delivery of all business requirements.
Preference will be given to Employment Equity candidates including disabled applicants. This position is based at Amalgam Facility in Crown Mines and will be on a permanent basis.
Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible, but not limited to the following:
- Review purchase requisitions for specification, compliance, and completeness and obtain additional or outstanding information that is required for processing.
- Issue RFQs, source, and purchase goods or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets on a best price and best solution basis.
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, lead times, and warranties with the supply chain.
- Communicate with suppliers and internal stakeholders regarding PO details, delivery schedules, and technical requirements.
- Ensure timely and accurate distribution of purchase orders to service providers and internal customers.
- Identify and implement initiatives with a view of reducing costs.
- Ensure compliance to the Procurement Procedures and Policies.
- Perform and deliver on savings and other business/departmental targets.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers and negotiate pricing, contracts, and favorable terms and conditions.
- Manage and maintain relationships with the supply chain, evaluating their performance and resolving any issues.
- Timeous and accurate submission of weekly and monthly buyer/savings templates.
- Maintain and update the Group’s supplier databases.
- Support the department/ business to manage Enterprise and supplier development performance areas.
- Through market research keep the business abreast to current market conditions and trends.
- Support the Group Procurement Executive to implement Procurement strategies in line with the Group’s goals and objectives.
- Conduct routine site visits to the projects.
Minimum requirements
Qualifications
- National diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management or related field
- A post-graduate qualification would be an advantage
Experience:
- A minimum of 2 to 3 years of technical procurement experience in a plant maintenance environment and preferably within a Construction Group or Plant Company.
- Extensive experience in the purchasing of maintenance and breakdown parts for earthmoving, mining, cranes, and road-building equipment.
- Good knowledge and relationships of the supply chain associated with earthmoving, mining, cranes, and road-building equipment.
- A technical/mechanical background will be advantageous
- Previous experience on JD Edwards is preferable
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of project management and construction management tools/systems, i.e. Prism, CCS, JDE, etc
- Knowledge of the BBBEE Preferential Procurement requirements as per the Construction Charter
- MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, & Outlook), report writing and general administration skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and strong negotiation skills
- Analytical mindset with strong organizational and time management skills
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to function within a team
