Introduction
Concor Construction invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Site Agent.
The successful incumbent will be responsible for the effective overall management of the site. This includes the optimisation of financial performance of the site and implementation of site-specific systems and controls, i.e., daily costing, programme management, QA/QC, HSE, procurement controls, budgets and forecasts, cost reporting, Client and Stakeholder liaison, etc.
Preference will be given to Employment Equity candidates. This position is available for the N11 Hendrina project and will be on a Limited Duration Contract (“LDC”) basis for the duration of the project.
Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to):
- Ensure effective optimisation of the financial performance of the site
- Implementation of site-specific systems, e.g., trend analysis, forecasts, procurement controls
- Managing the quality of site deliverables
- Managing site teams and identification and allocation of resources in line with project requirements, e.g., staff, plant, subcontractors
- Managing the performance of staff under control
- Health and Safety initiatives, Building and maintaining a Relationship with the client
- Fostering relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Ensuring that the quality of work and materials complies with specifications
- Work to be completed within the required time frames
- Inspiring team members to achieve high levels of production
- Building good relations with employees and relevant role players
- Manage site teams and identification and allocation of resources in line with project requirements, e.g., staff, plant, subcontractors.
- Providing constructive support to company initiatives
- Reviewing work and ensuring corrective action when required
- Implementing improvements and demonstrating initiative
- Consistently complying with all company policies and procedures
- Ensuring compliance with Safety, Health & Environmental Regulations
- Ensuring best practices in construction methods
Minimum requirements
Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
- Must be registered with one of the bodies: SACPCMP OR ECSA (preference will be given to a PCME
Experience
- A minimum of 5 – 10 years of experience as a Site Agent in the Civil Engineering sector.
- Must specialise in Road, Earthworks, and Drainage
- Experience with SANRAL, TRAC, N3TC, OR Bakwena Road Projects would be advantageous.
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must be a South African Citizen
Knowledge and Skills
- Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word & Outlook)
- Ability to think methodically and to manage large sections of a project
- Ability to read, understand, and organize construction Plans and Specifications
- Must have a working knowledge of CCS estimating and planning modules
- Working knowledge of the OHS Act and Construction Regulations
- Good working knowledge of various conditions of contract specifications (e.g., FIDIC, GCC, NEC);
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills;
- Ability to work as part of the team, while exercising own judgment
- Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet established deadlines
