Introduction
Concor Buildings invites suitably qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the position of HSE Coordinator. The successful incumbent will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing safety protocols on the C3 Project. The role ensures compliance with Concor Buildings’ Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) standards, South African safety legislation, and client requirements, fostering a safe working environment for all personnel on site. This position is site-based and offered on an LDC basis. Concor is committed to Employment Equity and affirmative action. Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to):

Safety Implementation & Monitoring

  • Implement and maintain Concor Buildings’ safety policies and procedures on site.
  • Conduct daily site inspections and safety audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
  • Monitor adherence to SHEQ standards by all site personnel, subcontractors, and visitors.
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices.

Risk Assessment & Incident Management

  • Conduct regular risk assessments and identify potential hazards.
  • Develop and implement mitigation measures to reduce risk.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
  • Maintain a register of incidents, accidents, and safety observations.

Training & Awareness

  • Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training sessions for site personnel.
  • Promote a culture of safety awareness and proactive risk management.
  • Ensure all personnel are informed about site-specific safety protocols.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and relevant regulations.
  • Maintain up-to-date safety documentation, including reports, permits, and checklists.
  • Prepare and submit safety reports to the SHEQ Manager and project management team.
  • Assist in internal and external safety audits and inspections.

Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise with subcontractors, consultants, and site teams on safety matters.
  • Provide guidance and support to project management in implementing safety measures.
  • Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Minimum requirements

Qualification
  • SAMTRAC 
  • Grade 12
  • Must be registered as a construction health and safety officer with SACPCMP
  • Incident Investigation
  • Fall Protection Planner

Experience

  • A minimum of 4 years' experience as a Health and Safety Officer within the construction industry.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have previously worked in the building industry.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be a South African Citizen

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proficient in conducting risk assessments, audits, and safety inspections.
  • Knowledge of SHEQ documentation, permits, and reporting requirements.
  • Familiarity with construction methods, tools, and equipment to identify potential hazards.
  • Ability to analyse incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive mindset.
  • Ability to influence and enforce compliance on site.
  • Organised, disciplined, and capable of working under pressure.
