Introduction
Concor invites suitably qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the position of Plant Buyer. This role will play a pivotal part in enabling efficient and cost effective procurement activities within the Plant Division and across various projects. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Procurement, Finance, Plant, and Project teams to ensure the timely sourcing and delivery of materials, equipment, and services critical to operational success. Preference will be given to Employment Equity candidates including disabled applicants. This position is based at Amalgam, Johannesburg and will be on a permanent basis.
Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible, but not limited to the following:

  • Reviewing purchase requisitions for completeness, accuracy, and compliance, and obtaining additional information where required.
  • Sourcing and procuring materials, equipment, and services in line with cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
  • Negotiating competitive pricing, payment terms, and lead times with suppliers.
  • Ensuring accurate and timeous distribution of purchase orders to service providers and internal stakeholders.
  • Identifying and implementing costsaving initiatives aligned to the organisation’s procurement objectives.
  • Ensuring full compliance with Procurement Policies and Procedures.
  • Meeting departmental performance targets, including savings and operational efficiency metrics.
  • Identifying, evaluating, and onboarding suppliers while negotiating favourable contract terms and conditions.
  • Managing supplier performance and resolving supplierrelated issues to ensure service excellence.
  • Maintaining and updating the Group’s supplier database with accurate and current information.
  • Supporting Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD) initiatives within the business.
  • Conducting market research to keep the business informed of market trends, pricing movements, and alternative supply options.
  • Supporting the Group Procurement Executive in the execution of procurement strategies aligned to business goals.
  • Conducting routine site visits to projects to understand project needs and ensure procurement alignment.

Minimum requirements

 Qualifications

  • National Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field
  • A post-graduate qualification will be advantageous.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ procurement experience, including supply chain management within the construction, engineering, and/or mining sectors.
  • Proven experience in the buying of maintenance parts and the support of construction plant is essential.
  • Project management exposure will be beneficial.
  • Experience using JD Edwards (JDE) is an advantage.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Good understanding knowledge of supply chain related to providing maintenance parts for construction plant and equipment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and organisational ability with excellent timemanagement.
  • High attention to detail and strong problemsolving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and under pressure to meet project deadlines.
