Introduction
Concor Construction invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of a Project Quantity Surveyor to join our project in the Western Cape.
The successful incumbent will be responsible for cost planning and estimating, contract administration, valuations and payments, cost control, reporting, and final accounts
Preference will be given to Employment Equity candidates. This position is available for the Conradie Park project and will be on a Limited Duration Contract (“LDC”) basis for the duration of the project.
Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to):
- Abstracting measurement from drawings for inclusion in monthly certificate
- Payment of subcontractors
- Physical measure on site for payment of subcontractors and monthly
- Monthly Valuation for Payme
- Take stock on site for inclusion in the monthly valuation
- Pricing of Site instructions and new items
- Liaison with Consultants regarding subcontractor monthly claims
- Work with Microsoft excel, word, and Construction Computer Software (CCS)
- Obtaining quotes from various subcontractors for tender purposes
- Liaising with various suppliers
- Re-measurement of all trades
- Data gathering for cost reports
- Material, plant and labour monitoring and reconciliation
- Variation compilation
- Estimation
- Monthly claims for payment
- Final accounts
- Subcontractor Payments
- Cost Reports
Minimum requirements
Qualification
- A degree/diploma in Quantity Surveying/Construction Management/ Building Science
Experience
- A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry, especially within Buildings and Civils.
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must be a South African Citizen
Knowledge and Skills
- Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, & outlook)
- Ability to read, understand, and organize BOQs
- Demonstrate effective project management skills in all tasks
- Must have a working knowledge of CSS estimating and planning modules
- Working knowledge of the OHS Act and the Construction Regulations Act
- Good working knowledge of various conditions of contract specifications, JBCC
- Ability to compile income and expenditure reports
- A good understanding of building materials
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work as part of the team, while exercising own judgement
- Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet established deadlines
