Job description
Successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to):
· Preparation of cost feasibilities, approximate estimates, cost planning, Bills of Quantities, Specifications and Schedule of Rates all in accordance with relevant standards.
· Preparation and administration of procurement advice, tenders, tender reviews and advice.
· Preparation and administration of various contract forms to both consultant and contractors.
· Preparation and administration of Interim valuations, Contractors’ claims and settlement of Final Accounts.
· Preparation and updating of standard cost databases and profiles.
· Assisting in the preparation of effective change control during the pre-contract stages and post-contract stages.
· Assisting in the preparation of contract variations to review with senior staff.
· Assisting in the preparation of financial reviews in accordance with the senior members of staff’s requirements.
· Preparation of interim valuations throughout the life of a project.
· Assisting in the preparation and agreement of final accounts.
· Assisting in the preparation of contract and dispute advice.
· Assisting senior members of staff in their role as Site Agent/Engineer and Contracts Manager.
· Reviewing the cost information prepared by senior staff and identifying any errors for correction.
· Visibly supports the Stop.Think.Act. 24/7 campaign and other HSE initiatives and objectives.
· Comply with all health and safety, company policies, procedures and standards.

Minimum requirements
Qualifications
- A degree/diploma in Quantity Surveying/Construction Management/Building Science
Experience
- A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a QS within the construction of civil infrastructure industry
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must be a South African Citizen
Knowledge and Skills
- Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Word & Outlook)
- Ability to carry out instructions issued by Quantity Surveyors, Site Agents and Engineers
- Ability to read, understand and organize BOQs
- Demonstrate effective project management skills in all tasks.
- Ability to compile income and expenditure reports
- A good understanding of building/construction materials
- Must have a working knowledge of CCS estimating and planning modules
- Working knowledge of the OHS Act, and Construction Regulations
- Good working knowledge of various conditions of contract specifications (e.g. FIDIC, GCC, NEC & JBCC );
- Strong attention to detail
- Good understanding of feasibility studies
- Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work as part of the team, while exercising own judgment
- Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet established deadlines
