Introduction
Concor Mining Services invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Senior Mining Engineer.
The successful incumbent will be responsible for the execution of engineering works within the mining sector, interpretation of drawings and specifications for such works, including planning and programming of work or activities on site, as well as Quality and SHE.
Preference will be given to Employment Equity candidates. This position is available within Concor Mining Services in Mokopane, Limpopo province, and will be on a permanent basis.
Job description
The Successful candidates will be responsible for (but not limited to):
- Plan, design, and supervise the development of mines.
- Develop, implement, and maintain safe and efficient mining methods.
- Analyze production data to identify trends and optimize mining methods.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure efficient use of resources and equipment.
- Prepare project budgets and schedules and ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Preparing detailed long-term project schedules.
- Ensuring standard procedures are adhered to and any specific client requirements are considered.
- Fostering relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Manage material procurement and controls (e.g., trend analysis, forecasts, procurement controls, etc.).
- Ensuring that the quality of work and materials complies with specifications.
- Work to be completed within the required time frames.
- Inspiring team members to achieve high levels of production.
- Building good relations with employees and relevant role players.
- Manage site teams and identification and allocation of resources in line with project requirements, e.g., staff, plant, subcontractors.
- Providing constructive support to company initiatives.
- Reviewing work and ensuring corrective action when required.
- Consistently complying with all company policies and procedures
- Ensuring compliance with Safety, Health & Environmental Regulations.
Minimum requirements
Qualifications
- A national diploma or bachelor's degree in mining engineering or a related field.
- Professional registration is advantageous.
Experience
- A minimum of 10 years' experience in mining engineering.
- Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Experience with project management and budgeting.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must be a South African Citizen.
Knowledge and Skills
- Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word & Outlook).
- Knowledge of mine safety regulations and best practices.
- Strong understanding of mining methods and techniques.
- Ability to think methodologically and to manage large sections of a project.
- Ability to read, understand, and organize construction plans and specifications.
- Must have a working knowledge of CCS estimating and planning modules.
- Working knowledge of the Mining Health & Safety Act and Regulations.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of the team, while exercising own judgement.
- Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet established deadlines.
