Concor Mining Services invites suitable qualified candidates to apply for the position of Auto Electrician.
The successful incumbent will report directly to the Plant Manager. The successful incumbent will be responsible for auto electrical maintenance and repairs on all vehicles and earthmoving machines.
Preference will be given to suitably qualified Employment Equity candidates.
Job description
Successful candidates will be responsible for (but not limited to):
- Investigating, diagnosing, and performing trade‑related maintenance and repairs on equipment and machinery in line with maintenance requirements
- Attending to defects identified on pre‑start reports, breakdown sheets, and over‑inspection reports
- Conducting equipment over‑inspections on work completed by apprentices and operatives, and providing guidance and feedback where required
- Reporting all defects and breakdowns on equipment and machinery to the Foreman
- Providing accurate and timely feedback to the Foreman and team regarding equipment performance and condition
- Developing, modifying, constructing, and installing equipment required to ensure the safe and efficient operation of machinery within the area of responsibility
- Ensuring optimal availability and reliability of machinery
- Identifying spare parts requirements and initiating orders in line with departmental procedures
- Communicating with clients and supervisors regarding maintenance activities performed and equipment availability
- Adhering to all company policies, procedures, and safety standards
- Performing all duties with strict regard for health, safety, and environmental requirements
- Travelling to various sites to carry out electrical and air‑conditioning repairs on earthmoving equipment as required.
Minimum requirements
Qualifications
- Grade 12 / N3 (or equivalent)
- Recognised Auto Electrical Trade Certificate obtained through a formal apprenticeship
- Valid driver’s licence
Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ post‑apprenticeship experience in the auto‑electrical field
- Experience within construction, engineering, and/or mining environments is essential
- Strong, proven knowledge of Liebherr heavy mining equipment.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently, plan own tasks, and take proactive initiative
- Ability to maintain sound budget control
- Practical knowledge of engineering technologies, standards, and practices
- Strong analytical ability with excellent attention to detail
- Advanced troubleshooting and fault‑finding skills
- Excellent hands‑on knowledge of electrical and electronic systems
- Computer literate with basic proficiency in MS Office and Outlook
- Proficient in using CAT electronic diagnostic systems
- Mechanical and electrical knowledge of Liebherr 9200 excavators
- Proficient in using Mercedes‑Benz electronic diagnostic systems
- Strong technical ability in repairing electrical components (e.g., starters, alternators)
- Advanced knowledge of auto air‑conditioning systems, including installation, diagnostics, repairs, and re‑gassing
