Concor Construction invites suitably qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the position of Group Financial Accountant. The successful incumbent will play a key role in delivering high‑quality financial analysis, reporting and accounting support to Head Office and relevant group of companies. This is a permanent position based at the Concor Head Office in Bedfordview. Preference will be given to Employment Equity candidates, including persons with disabilities.
Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to):

Financial Reporting & Consolidations

  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial reports.
  • Review and analyse group monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensure completeness of reporting packs.
  • Prepare and review group reporting templates and ensure alignment with internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Support the preparation of Executive Committee and Board-level consolidated financial presentations.

Technical Accounting & Compliance

  • Ensure all complex accounting transactions comply with IFRS and internal accounting policies.
  • Prepare annual statutory financial statements and support year-end reporting activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and governance frameworks (including procurement and petty cash processes).

Taxation

  •      Prepare and review tax calculations, tax reconciliations, and tax returns.
  •      Manage income tax submissions and perform deffered tax calculations in line with reporting deadlines.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis

  •      Lead the preparation, review, and monitoring of group budgets, forecasts, and cash flow forecasts.
  •      Perform detailed reasonability assessments of divisional monthly management accounts.
  •      Provide insight-driven analysis to assist strategic and operational decision-making.
    Audit Support
  •      Liaise with and support external auditors during interim and annual audits.
  •      Manage the full audit process, from planning through to sign-off of the group financial statements.
  •      Assist in BB-BEE verification audit processes where required.
Regulatory Reporting
     
  •      Complete and submit quarterly reports for Statistics SA and the South African Reserve Bank.

Minimum requirements

 Qualifications 

  • Qualified CA (SA)

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ post-articles experience within the construction, engineering, or related industries.
  • Experience with JDE and Hyperion will be advantageous.
  • Proven experience in consolidations and the preparation of annual financial statements.
  • Experience in the submission of income tax returns and calculation of deferred/income tax for AFS purposes.
  • Strong technical expertise and practical application of IFRS standards.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret complex financial information and provide meaningful insights.
