Concor Construction invites experienced, delivery-focused candidates to apply for the position of Site Manager – Steelworks on the Msikaba Bridge Project. This limited-duration role is based in Lusikisiki, Eastern Cape.
The successful candidate will lead the safe and efficient execution of structural steel erection, assembly, welding, bolting and lifting activities, ensuring delivery to programme, approved drawings, specifications and quality standards.
This role is suited to a hands-on construction leader with significant structural steel experience on major bridge, infrastructure or complex erection projects.

Job description
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Lead daily structural steel erection, assembly, welding, bolting, alignment, and installation activities.
- Plan work, allocate labour and resources, confirm work-front readiness, and monitor progress against programme and production targets.
- Coordinate cranes, rigging teams and heavy lifting operations in line with approved lifting plans and site controls.
- Ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, risk assessments, quality plans and inspection requirements.
- Lead health, safety and environmental compliance, including toolbox talks, working-at-height controls, incident reporting and the authority to stop unsafe work.
- Manage steelwork teams, subcontractors and interfaces with civil, concrete and other project disciplines.
- Coordinate materials, equipment, logistics and inspection hold points to maintain efficient execution.
- Maintain accurate site records and provide progress, productivity, risk and constraint reports to Management.
Minimum requirements
Qualifications
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- National Diploma or Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- Relevant safety training and certification appropriate to structural steelwork and construction-site supervision
Experience
- Minimum 8 years’ construction supervision experience, including substantial structural steelwork experience.
- Proven experience leading structural steel erection, assembly and installation on major or complex projects.
- Practical experience coordinating cranes, rigging teams, heavy lifts and work at height.
- Ability to interpret structural, fabrication and erection drawings, specifications and approved methodologies.
- Experience managing site teams, specialist subcontractors, multidisciplinary interfaces, production targets and dimensional tolerances.
